  • SOC 4420 - Environmental Justice

    Description: A study of the emergence and development of environmental justice. An understanding of the interaction between the human environment and inequality among different human groups, as defined by race, class, and gender will be addressed. Topic include environmental racism, the environmental justice movement, environmental attitudes, theories, and health, and race, class, and gender disparities.
  
  • SOC 4850 - Sociology Service Learning

    Description: This course offers a collaborative service learning experience in which students work with other students, their teachers, and experts in their communities to develop deeper knowledge of the subject being studied.  Students will work to identify and solve challenges through engagement in their communities.  The substantive topic of the course varies by instructor’s expertise.  (Students may repeat course to a maximum of three times.)

  • SPED 2301 - Planning and the Learning Environment for Diverse Learners

    Description: This course is designed to provide students with the tools to build an inclusive classroom. A foundation for decision making surrounding curriculum development and differentiation will be established before developing understandings and application of specific strategies for differentiation. Principles of Universal Design for Learning as well as specific strategies targeted towards students with disabilities and English learners covered include differentiating for student needs and characteristics while addressing content, process, and products.

  • THEA 3090 - International Studies in Theatre II

    Prerequisite: Junior standing, THEA 3080  or permission of instructor
    Description: This course is the culmination of THEA 3080 . The students will experience international theatre first hand within the confines of a studies abroad program.
  
  • THEA 3200 - Voice for the Actor

    Prerequisite: THEA 1300  or permission of instructor
    Description: Practical work on the fundamentals of vocal production for the stage. Topics include body alignment, breath support, articulation, and Standard American Stage Speech using the International Phonetic Alphabet.
  
  • THEA 3300 - Classical Text and Performance

    Credit Hours 3
    Prerequisite: THEA 1300  or permission of instructor;
    Description: This course is designed to study the acting skills involved in performing various classical styles and texts which may include; but is not limited to, Classical Greek Theatre, the French Neoclassical and English Restoration Theatre, and the Elizabethan and Jacobian playwrights, including Shakespeare.
     
  
  • THEA 3330 - Musical Theatre History

    Description: A survey course of the history of musical theatre from operetta to present day with an emphasis on select shows and significant contributors to the genre.
  
  • THEA 3340 - Musical Theatre Voice

    Credit Hours 1
    Prerequisite: Course restricted to those pursuing theatre and dance majors, minors or concentrations; or permission of instructor.
    Description: One hour voice instruction.  Singing techniques including tone production, anatomy, physiology, and diction utilizing musical theatre repertoire.  Required an additional 5x (must complete 6 semesters).
  
  • THEA 3341 - Private Half-hour Voice Elective

    Credit Hours 1
    Prerequisite: Course restricted to those pursuing theatre and dance majors, minors or concentrations or permission of instructor;
    Description: One half hour private voice instruction focusing on Musical Theatre styles.  Singing techniques including tone production, anatomy, physiology and diction utilizing theatre repertoire.  May be repeated an additional 2X.
  
  • THEA 3350 - Musical Theatre Workshop I

    Prerequisite: Course restricted to those pursuing theatre and dance majors, minors or concentrations; or permission of instructor.
    Description: A performance-oriented study of musical theatre, composers, and styles to improve students’ audition and performance skills.
  
  • THEA 3360 - Musical Theatre Workshop II

    Prerequisite: THEA 3350  
    Description: Continuation of THEA 3350 .  Practical acting and vocal techniques of the solo musical theatre performer.  Audition and performance techniques.
  
  • THEA 3370 - Stage Combat

    Credit Hours 3
    Prerequisite: BA or BFA Theatre or Dance major or Theatre or Dance minor; THEA 2350  or permission of instructor.
    Description: Introduction to the advanced movement techniques of stage combat.
  
  • THEA 3400 - Directing I

    Credit Hours 3
    Prerequisite: THEA 1300 , 1600 , 2200   and course restricted to those pursuing theatre and dance majors, minors or concentrations; or permission of instructor.
    Description:  The theories and techniques of stage direction. Each student is required to complete a focused directing project.
  
  • THEA 3500 - Stage Dialects

    Prerequisite: THEA 3200  or permission of instructor
    Description: Training in the use of region-specific dialects common in theatrical performance. Topics include IPA transcription, sound substitutions, and resonant focus.
  
  • THEA 3550 - Stage Management II

    Prerequisite: THEA 1500 ;
    Description: Continued study and application of the functions and responsibilities of professional stage managers.
  
  • THEA 3601 - Special Topics in Theatre

    Prerequisite: Department consent;
    Description: Occasional course offering to further prepare students for a professional career in theatre,  Focus may include a specialized course taught by a guest artist in residence or other.  Topics to be announced.  Repeatable two times.
  
  • THEA 3700 - Scenic Design I

    Prerequisite: THEA 1600 ;
    Description: Exposes the student to theatre design in the area of Scenery. Emphasis placed on script analysis and the implementation of various design elements.
  
  • THEA 3710 - Sound Design

    Credit Hours 3
    Description: A theoretical and practical introduction to the art, craft and technology of contemporary sound design for the theatre.
