MTEC 4730/4731 - Diagnostic Microbiology I (and lab)

Prerequisite: Acceptance into the senior year (clinical phase) of the MTEC program or permission of program director or permission of instructor Corequisite: MTEC 4731
Advanced study of the bacterial agents which cause human disease. The processing and handling of clinical specimens with emphasis on state of the art isolation an identification of pathogenic bacteria is included. The theory and laboratory practice in clinical serology used in diagnosis of infectious disease is also emphasized. (Including ASO, CRP, RPR, ELISA, and IF)
