Education Specialist, Ed.S.


Education Specialist (Ed.S.)
(30 semester hours)

The Education Specialist program is designed to permit students to achieve a degree level higher than the master’s. The major is Education with concentrations available in Administration and Supervision, Elementary Education, Secondary Education, and Non-Public School – Non Licensure.

Admission Requirements


To be admitted to the Ed.S. program students must meet the following criteria:

1.  A GPA of 3.25 on the Master’s degree

2. A minimum GRE Verbal Score of 145 and GRE Quantitative Score of 140 or MAT - 387 or above.

Administration and Supervision Concentration


Non Public School or Non-Licensure Administration Specialization:


(Ed.S. core courses are not required)

Elementary/Secondary Education Concentration


Specialty Area: 9 Hours


Select 9 hours in consultation with graduate committee: Biology, English/Communication, Health and Physical Education, Language Arts/Reading, Mathematics, Early Childhood, Instructional Technology and Special Education. 

Total: 30 Hours


School Counseling Concentration

Research Requirements


Research Plan IV:

1.  Completion of Educ 6050 - Seminar on Research

2.  Completion of Field Study

3.  Completion of Oral Defense of Field Study
