Description of Major
Students who major in our K-8 Special Education Interventionist program receive training in working with students with mild/moderate disabilities in today’s schools. This program consists on 125 hours of undergraduate coursework in the general education core, professional education minor and the special education major. Throughout the program, students will engage in over 150 hours of field experiences in addition to a full semester of residency II placements (student teaching).

K-12 Special Education Comprehensive
This is an undergraduate licensure program in K-12 Comprehensive Disabilities. Students are seeking to earn a concentration in
comprehensive (severe/profound) disabilities. The program contains 122 hours, of which 60 are university core, 30 are in the special education major and the remaining courses are in the professional education minor. The goal of this proposed K-12 Comprehensive concentration is to prepare students to implement interventions for students with severe/profound disabilities across multiple disciplines throughout the K-12 grade spans

Special Education Interventionist K-8
6-12 Interventionist
This is an undergraduate licensure program in 6-12 Mild/Moderate Disabilities. Students are seeking to earn a concentration in 6/12 SPED with a focus in Biology, 6/12 SPED focus Math, and 6/12 SPED focus English. The Biology program is 125 hours of which 23 hours are Biology courses, not including the 14 core Biology courses. The remaining courses are university core and education minor courses. The Math program is 126 hours and contains 19 hours of math courses (containing 3 have prerequisite courses) not including three core math courses. The remaining courses are university core and education minor courses. The English program is 122 hours and contains 15 hours of English courses, not including three English core courses. The remaining courses are university core and education minor courses.
The goal of this proposed 6-12 Interventionist concentration is to prepare students to implement interventions across multiple disciplines in the 6-12 grade spans.
