Program Specific Admissions Requirements (GRE scores, Writing Sample, LORs):

  • Cumulative undergraduate GPA of 2.5
  • Bachelor’s degree, conferred in any field, from a regionally accredited institution
  • *Minimum GRE revised General Test scores of: Verbal-140, Quantitative-140, and Analytical Writing-2.5
  • Receipt of admission from the Health and Human Performance department selection committee

*Students with an undergraduate GPA of 3.5 or greater or with a master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution may submit an Entrance Exam Waiver, for approval by the department, to waive the GRE requirement. This does not guarantee admission into the program. All documents will be evaluated before a decision is made.

Master of Science in Health and Human performance has three concentrations.

  • Performance Enhancement and Coaching
  • Public Health Education
  • Sport and Wellness Leadership

Performance Enhancement and Coaching


Master of Science in Health and Human Performance with a concentration in Performance Enhancement and Coaching

This program will develop the skills necessary for students who are pursuing careers in life, business, and sport coaching.  Students will experience different types of performance enhancement techniques, including strategies to improve mental toughness and emotional intelligence.

Public Health Education Concentration


Master of Science in Health and Human Performance with a concentration in Public Health Education

This program will focus on developing the skills and competencies necessary to improve community health and promote wellness.  Coursework includes research, statistics, foundations in health education, community organizing in public health, grant writing, and epidemiology to name a few. Ten courses are required to complete the program and are offered online. Students entering this field can expect to work in healthcare facilities, colleges, public health departments, nonprofits, or private businesses.

Sport And Wellness Leadership Concentration


Master of Science in Health and Human Performance with a concentration in Sport and Wellness Leadership

Coursework includes research, statistics, exercise science classes, leadership, and sport psychology to name a few. Ten courses are required to complete the program. Generally, students who are involved in coaching, personal training, physical education, wellness or athletic training are enrolled in this program.
