Studio Art Concentration BFA

All programs in the Department of Art & Design are accredited by the National Association of Schools of Art and Design.

Description

The Studio Art concentration for the Bachelor of Fine Arts is for students seeking to prepare for art as a profession. Students will demonstrate proficiency in at least one studio area (drawing, painting, photography, pottery/ceramics, printmaking, sculpture, digital media, or illustration) through completion of the degree. A B.F.A. portfolio review is required of B.F.A. candidates as a prerequisite to ART 4150 and ART 4160.

Admission Requirements

Admission to the B.F.A. program is by application (usually at the end of the sophomore year), providing the student has met the following requirements: 1. Completion of: ART 1340, ART 1350, ART 1045, ART 1050; ART 2010 or ART 2020; and 2. Completion of a Portfolio Review in which the faculty will vote based on the quality of the student’s work. Should faculty vote to deny entrance to the B.F.A. program, the student may appeal and/or re-apply the following semester.
