AP OneStop

Students may apply, register, pay fees, obtain grades, order student transcripts, and obtain information on admissions, financial aid, veteran services, housing, and testing by accessing AP One Stop at http://onestop.apsu.edu.

Extended and Distance Education

Distance Education enables the University to reach beyond the traditional campus via online, two-way interactive video and off-campus on-site courses. Graduate online courses are offered each term with the number of offerings increasing each term. APSU also is a participant in the Tennessee Board of Regents Online Degree Program (RODP) and the Army online initiative.

Tennessee Board of Regents colleges, universities, and technology centers offer the Regents Online Degree Programs (RODP).  APSU is one of six TBR universities that delivers and awards the noted master’s degrees. Courses completed in the Regents Online Degree Programs are entirely online and transferable among all the participating institutions. In order to graduate, at least 33% of the courses taken within the degree must be taught by APSU faculty. Please consult your Academic Advisor for more information. These degrees and courses will be offered in an interactive, asynchronous format. That means classes can be accessed any time of the day from anywhere via the internet. Advising, library services, student support, and other forms of student assistance also will be available online. Students have technical support 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Felix G. Woodward Library

The Felix G. Woodward Library offers a print collection numbering 400,000 and an electronic collection that includes 9,000 full-text periodicals, 43,000 e-books, 4,700 audio visuals and 663,000 microforms. On-site and remote access to numerous Internet and other electronic resources and databases is readily available to students.

Book and Supply Store

The APSU Book and Supply Store provides the books and materials needed as part of the educational process for students. Items available include textbooks (new and used and rental), school supplies, a wide variety of APSU gift items (sweatshirts, T-shirts, baseball caps, youth, fashion, and more), and graduation regalia. The Book and Supply Store is located in the Catherine Evans Harvill Building and can be reached at 931-221-7655.

Child Learning Center

The Child Learning Center (CLC) is available to children of APSU students, staff and faculty, as well as the local community and serves preschool children aged 2 years through 5 years (5 year olds must not be enrolled in Kindergarten). School-age drop-in care is also offered.  APSU students pay discounted fees. Full-time and part-time programs are available. The CLC maintains a three-star rating from the Department of Human Services Star Quality Child Care Program. The CLC is also a Gold Sneaker Facility. The center hours of operation are Monday – Friday, 7:30 am – 5:00 pm.

Career Services

The Office of Career Services at Austin Peay State University assists students connect with local, regional, state, and national employers. Our mission is to provide students with a high level of career education and practical experience so they are prepared to serve in the workplace. As a part of this mission, we strive to provide access to career related services and meet students where they are in their career development needs. Examples of services are resume, cover letter, and interview development workshops; one-on-one career counseling; career assessments and interpretations; and many other developmental services. Center for Service-Learning and Community Engagement

The Center for Service-Learning & Community Engagement exists to support and encourage the collaboration between APSU and the needs of the community through curricular and co-curricular programming. Our vision is to provide the space and opportunity for students to become active citizens from the classroom into their community. The center offers students a wide variety of opportunities to become involved in the community, from one-time volunteering to semester long service tied to an academic course. Students can participate in national and international alternative break experiences or live on campus in our residential volunteer based living community.

In addition to our outward focused programs, we have a student initiated campus food pantry and garden program that supports APSU students experiencing difficult circumstances. Students can utilize and/or volunteer with our food pantry, free thrift store, victory gardens or chickens.  Students are recognized for their involvement with community service through awards and are encouraged to make community engagement a life-long commitment.

Testing Center

The Testing Center is located in the Ellington Building, Room 202. The center administers the Miller Analogies Test (MAT) and also proctors exams for courses taken through other universities.  Registration information for the Graduate Record Exam (GRE), PRAXIS exams for teacher certification and licensing, and the Law School Admission Test (LSAT) is available at the center.  For more information or to schedule a testing session, call 931-221-6269.

Student Counseling Services

Student Counseling Services is located in Ellington Building, Room 202. The professional staff is comprised of licensed mental health professionals, including counselors, marriage and family therapists, and psychologists. Student Counseling Services offers personal counseling for a variety of concerns, including depression, anxiety, relationship issues, eating issues, stress, alcohol and drug abuse, and other personal concerns that may have the potential to interfere with academic success. Students are generally entitled to up to 12 sessions per year at no cost (subject to provider availability and suitability). Students presenting with more severe or complex concerns may be referred elsewhere for care as appropriateStudents may call 931-221-6162 or visit the counseling center in person to schedule an appointment.

Govs I.D. Card

The Govs Card is the official identification card for every student, faculty and staff member at APSU. It offers a convenient, easy and safe way to make purchases and utilize campus services. The card can also be used as a library card, meal plan card, meal money (Gov Bucks), admittance to athletic events and other campus activities, access to residence halls and the student recreation center, in vending machines, and as a US Bank ATM/Debit Card. Health Services

The University provides evidence-based health care guided by standards set forth by the Council for the Advancement of Standards in Higher Education and the American College Health Association.  A.R. Boyd Health Services is located in the Ellington Building, room 104. Health care for routine and minor illnesses and injuries is provided by board certified family medicine physicians and family nurse practitioners.  Additional services include gynecological concerns, family planning, well-patient physical examinations, allergy injections, immunizations, tuberculin testing, laboratory and phlebotomy services, and health education. Services are available to APSU students, staff, and faculty. Students are assessed a health service fee for each semester enrolled that covers the cost of office visits. Staff and faculty seeking services through the clinic are required to pay an access fee for each visit. All patients will be billed for laboratory tests, medications received in the clinic pharmacy, immunizations, and procedures. Major illnesses are referred to the patient’s primary care provider or to local physicians/specialists as appropriate. Patients will be responsible for all costs associated with referrals to off-campus facilities and providers. No medical services will be provided until a current health history is completed and on file.

Services may be denied to patients that violate the Student Code of Conduct or intentionally provide false information to Health Services staff or providers. Patients whose illness or injury is outside the scope of clinic services will be referred to a provider or facility with capabilities to treat the patient’s condition.

Military Student Center

The Military Student Center serves as a location for fellowship and relaxation for veterans, active duty/reserve personnel, ROTC students, and military family members that attend the university. It includes a computer center, lounge, and dining area to allow students to either work on homework or to relax and unwind from the day surrounded by students with similar backgrounds and experiences. The Center offers programs and services throughout the academic year to address the unique challenges of this student population. These programs include Texts for Vets, workshops, group talks, and special events. The Military Student Center is open to all Austin Peay students, no military affiliation is required.

The Center also employs friendly, supportive, and knowledgeable staff willing to help students, and especially assist military and veteran students with their transition into college life. The MSC is open Monday-Thursday 8 a.m.-6 p.m./Friday 8 a.m.- 4:30 p.m. and can be reached at: 931-221-1685.

Public Safety – Campus Police

The APSU Campus Police station is open and staffed 24 hours a day, and is located in the Shasteen Building. Officers patrol the campus by automobile, bicycle, and on foot. The cadre of police officers attends a state police academy and are otherwise certified and trained to state standards.

The jurisdictional area extends to all facilities owned, operated, and leased by the Board of Regents, as well as public roads and right-of-ways contiguous to that property. They are armed and empowered with the same arrest authority as city and county officers. Campus officers work closely with local and state police and emergency officials, and share a common radio network. Police officers are augmented on campus by security officers and by the Student Patrol, which assist in parking and traffic control and in security during special events, and provide a security escort service for students during evening hours. Other crime prevention programs run throughout the year, including crime prevention briefings and a program for recording and engraving serial numbers on valuable items of property. Public Safety is also responsible for coordinating homeland security efforts and APSU’s Emergency Preparedness Plan. For more information, contact Campus Police at 931-221-7786. Sickness and Accident Insurance

Office of Disability Services

A person with a disability is someone with a physical or mental impairment that substantially limits one or more major life activities.  A person is considered to be a person with a disability if he/she has the disability, has a record of the disability, or is regarded as having the disability.

Accommodations are academic adjustments or auxiliary aids that provide equal access to programs and services. A few examples are print and audio materials in alternate formats, extended time or taking an exam in a minimal distraction area, recording a lecture or having a note-taker and assistive technology to read and navigate a computer. 

It is the responsibility of the student to register with the Office of Disability Services and request accommodations.  The first step is to complete an Intake Form.  The form can be accessed from http://www.apsu.edu/disability/forms.  Students are encouraged to contact the office for guidelines pertaining to the specific documentation required.  The Office of Disability Services can be contacted at (931) 221-6230 Voice or (931) 221-6278 TTY, Morgan University Center, 114. 

Tuition Reduction

A Tennessee resident who is permanently and totally disabled may register in courses for credit on a space available basis and pay a maximum tuition of $70 and all applicable fees or may audit a course if space is available at no cost (according to Tennessee law) by filing an Application for Tuition Reduction due to Disability and submit proof that you are considered 100% disabled through Social Security or other appropriate state or federal agency.  To request tuition reduction for disability, you must submit this documentation for each term of enrollment.  Requests must be submitted prior to the last day of registration.  For additional information, contact the Office of Disability Services at (931) 221-6230 Voice or (931) 221-6278 TTY, Morgan University Center, 114.

Other Resources

Parking
Accessible parking decals are issued to qualified students/faculty/staff in lieu of any other decal.  Decals are obtained from public safety/campus police upon the presentation of a license or placard issued by any state specifically to the person requesting the decal.  Decals may be obtained by visiting public safety/campus police at the Shasteen Building, 133.  Temporary disabled permits are issued under the authority of the public safety/campus police and entitle the bearer to the same parking privileges for short periods of time.  Temporary disabled permits may be obtained by visiting Boyd Health Services, Ellington 104.

Accessibility Committee
The committee has the responsibility for developing policies related to the services and activities for people with disabilities on campus.  In addition, the committee should monitor questions relative to procedures and access, and make recommendations directly to the president concerning these matters.

Traffic and Parking Regulations

Students who desire to park and/or drive vehicles on the APSU campus are required to register with the Office of Public Safety in the Shasteen Building. All vehicles must display a proper parking decal and must be operated in accordance with state laws and University Traffic and Parking Regulations, distributed by the Office of Public Safety.

Morgan University Center

The Morgan University Center is the center of campus life at Austin Peay. The Center is the home to the University’s food service operations, featuring the cafeteria and food court. In addition, the following offices are located in the facility: Student Affairs, University Facilities, Student Life and Engagement, Disability Services, Career Services, Student Transitions, Student Publications (The All State student newspaper and the Monacle Yearbook), Student Government Association, Hispanic Cultural Center, Adult and Nontraditional Student Center and the Military Student Center. Besides the offices listed, the Morgan University Center includes a coffee shop, post office and meeting rooms. In the Morgan University Center you will find regular events and programs scheduled throughout the day, as well as a location to relax and refresh from your academic studies.

University Housing

The University believes that life in campus housing provides students with an essential part of the educational experience. Living in a residence hall/apartment affords students opportunities for involvement in learning communities, campus activities, shared responsibilities and community experiences.

The University has accommodations for approximately 1,900 students. Single students are housed in residence halls, generally two to a room, or Meacham Apartments and Hand Village, four to an apartment, under the supervision of professional and student staff.  One-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments are available for married students, single parents with dependent children, or single students age 21 or older with no dependents.

All resident students must provide their own bed linens, towels, telephones and other personal accessories. Students are responsible for the care and cleaning of their rooms. Laundry facilities are available in all residence halls/apartments. Internet, cable, in-house movie/information channel, and local telephone service are provided. All residences are smoke free.

Application for University Housing should be made online at www.apsu.edu/housing. Housing contracts are for the full academic year (fall and spring semesters including winter break) and renewed annually. Please refer to Housing Licensing Agreement for fee adjustment policies and deadlines.

Writing Center

The Writing Center provides assistance with writing skills to any student at APSU. They support assignments in APA, ASA, Chicago, and MLA style. Students may receive assistance on either an appointment, walk-in, or online basis. The Writing Center is located on the main floor of the library.
