CPSY 8200 - Health Psychology: Theories and Intervention

Credit Hours 3
Prerequisite: Admission to the Counseling Psychology PsyD program.
Description: This course is designed to provide students with an overview of salient empirical and theoretical aspects of health psychology. The overarching theoretical framework of the course will be relationship focused, client centered, and strengths based. The course will emphasize the role that psychological variables play a role in the development, exacerbation, treatment, and prognosis of illness. Additionally, this course will focus on ways in which clients’ physical health concerns affect psychosocial and emotional well-being.
