CPSY 8630 - Assessment and Treatment of Addictive Disorders

Prerequisite: Admission and enrollment in the Counseling Psychology PsyD program
Description: This course focuses on identification, assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of addictive behaviors and disorders. Students will be introduced to the prevailing theories around addiction as well as treatment modalities that are most often utilized. Experiential activities will be integrated throughout the course. The curriculum for the course will be infused with a strengths-based, diversity oriented, social justice perspective that encourages students to identify barriers to treatment for marginalized or disenfranchised individuals.
