PSYC 7280 - Forensic Psychology

Credit Hours 3
Prerequisite: Admission to the CPSY PsyD program or permission of the instructor
Description: The purpose of this course is to introduce students to the fundamentals of forensic psychology understood as the study of psychology and law, criminal justice, and mental health. The course will comprise of civil and criminal law, the forensic ethics code and its implications, forensic assessment strategies and court testimony. Course discussions will explore the role of the forensic psychologist and impending clinical and legal issues including how to communicate psychological findings to the courts.
