Applied Exercise Science Concentration
The applied exercise science concentration provides students the opportunity to prepare for fitness positions in hospitals, retirement centers, corporate wellness centers, YMCA settings, community recreation programs, and private fitness centers. Students who enroll in this concentration are also interested in pursuing Physical Therapy (PT), Occupational Therapy (OT), Athletic Training, and/or other post-baccalaureate program.
Recommended General Education Requirements: 14 Credit Hours
Lower Division Major Requirements: 3 credit hours
Upper Division Major Requirements: 40 Credit Hours
Electives: 35 Credit Hours

Health Care Management Concentration
The Health Care Management concentration provides students the opportunity to prepare for employment as a manager in a variety of health and human service organization settings both in the private and public sectors, including medical centers and systems, health departments at the local, regional, and state levels: home health-care agencies, health maintenance organizations, and insurance companies, hospitals, surgical care centers, assisted living centers, nursing homes, physician group practices, and volunteer organizations.
Recommended General Education Requirements: 6 Credit Hours
Lower Division Major Requirements: 6 credit hours
Upper Division Major Requirements: 43 Credit Hours
Electives: 29 Credit Hours

Public Health Concentration
The public health concentration provides students the opportunity to prepare for entry-level public health, health education, or community health positions aimed at promoting, maintaining, and improving individual and community health in a variety of settings. Emphasis is placed on competency-based skills required by the workplace. Students completing this concentration may be eligible to sit for the Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) exam, a voluntary individual certification, after a review of academic transcript(s).
Recommended General Education Requirements: 10 Credit Hours
Lower Division Major Requirements: 3 Credit Hours
Upper Division Major Requirements: 28 Credit Hours

Human Movement Concentration
The Human Movement concentration provides students the opportunity to prepare for positions in recreational settings such as local and state parks, recreation centers, YMCA, athletic clubs, military associated recreational positions.

Upper Division Major Requirements: 40 Credit Hours

K-12 Teaching Concentration
The K-12 Teaching Concentration provides students the opportunity to prepare for teaching health and physical education and/or coaching in grades K-12. The program meets all Tennessee and CAEP guidelines.

Upper Division Major Requirements: 33 Credit Hours
