The program for history majors is designed to prepare students to think critically, communicate effectively, live responsibly, and prosper as citizens in a global society. Toward these goals, the department seeks to impart to all students an understanding of our nation’s history in the context of world history.

Two (2) upper division courses in non-U.S. History (courses numbered in the 3000’s or 4000’s ) 6

Any upper division course (courses numbered in the 3000’s or 4000’s) 3
(can be U.S. History, non-U.S. Hisotry or any other History course)
Specific Upper Division Requirement: 3 Credit Hours
History with Licensure Specialization
Follow Specific Program Sheet provided by the History Department
This specialization must be distributed over at least two fields with emphasis on history and one from political science, economics or geography.
Specific General Education Requirement: 12 Credit Hours
Lower Division Requirements: 15 Credit Hours
Upper Division Requirements: 21 Credit Hours
Professional Education Minor: 35 Credit Hours
Select at least one field of emphasis for licensure:
Political Science: 6 Credit Hours
Economics: 6 Credit Hours
Geography: 7 Credit Hours
Note
Students may obtain additional endorsements with a minimum of 9 hours in approved courses; to include the fields of psychology and sociology.
