Theatre and Dance (B.A.)

The B.A. in Theatre and Dance is a Liberal Arts Degree.  Each concentration in the B.A. Theatre and Dance degree program will consist of 36 hours in the major and is designed to be accompanied by a second major or 1-2 minors.  Admission to this program will be open to all.

In addition to this degree, the Department of Theatre and Dance also offers a Theatre Minor and Dance Minor.

Admission Criteria

  • Scholarships are only awarded to students who have been officially admitted by the university.
  • BA students seeking departmental scholarships must audtion:
    • At the time of audition, Acting/Directing, Dance and Musical Theatre students must submit the following:
      • Resume
      • Head shot
      • Two letters of recommendation
      • Up to date transcripts that indicate GPA of high school and/or previous college work
    • At the time of audition, Design students must submit the following:
      • Resume
      • Personal Photo
      • Two letters of recommendation
      • Up to date transcripts that indicate cumulative GPA of high school and/or previous college work
  • Students must maintain a 2.5 overall GPA to continue in the program.
  • Grades less than “C” will not be counted in the major.
  • Earning a grade less than “C” in any major course may cause the student to be ineligible for casting or other department production positions and will entail being ineligible for departmental sponsored travel.
  • Most Theatre/Dance classes are restricted to BFA/BA majors and minors. Exceptions must be approved by the Chair of Theatre/Dance.
  • Students pursuing the Acting/Directing or Design concentration may not also pursue the Theatre Minor. Students pursuing the Dance concentration may not also pursue the Dance Minor.
