The major in accounting is recommended for the student who is interested in a career as an auditor, tax accountant, cost or management accountant, or government/not for profit accountant. The accounting major is also of value to those who are interested in entering other fields of business, such as: banking, management, finance, budgets, and planning. No minor is required.
Students must earn 150 hours of college credit before taking the CPA Exam in Tennessee. Students are encouraged to take 30 hours in the Master of Science in Management with a specialization in accounting to satisfy the 150-hour requirement.
