Description of Major

To Teach Grades K-6, Middle Grades Math 6-8, or Pre - K-3

This curriculum is designed for but not limited to students who are preparing to teach the elementary, middle grades, and preK-3. For those seeking licensure, the program consists of General Education core, a major in Interdisciplinary Studies and a minor in Professional Education, Student Teaching, and the accompanying Teaching Seminar. This program will complete teacher education at Austin Peay and will continue to perform at a high level on Praxis II licensure examinations.

K-5 Licensure Program


Students successfully completing this program and required licensure examinations will be eligible to teach grades K-6 in Tennessee schools. Specific admissions criteria and curriculum requirements are available from advisors in the College of Education.

PreK-3


Students successfully completing this program and required licensure examinations will be eligible to teach grades PreK-3 in Tennessee schools. Specific admissions criteria and curriculum requirements are available from advisors in the College of Education.

Middle Grades Math 6-8


Students electing this program will be licensed to teach middle grades Math 6 - 8 in Tennessee.
