Description of Major
The Department of Health and Human Performance offers two majors: B.S. in Health and Human Performance (HHP) or B.S. in Kinesiology. The B.S. in HHP offers concentrations in Communication Sciences and Disorders, Health Care Management, K-12 Teaching, Public Health, and Sport and Wellness Specialist. The B.S. in Kinesiology offers two concentrations in Exercise Science or Pre-Professional. A minor is available in Coaching, Health, Physical Education, and Recreation. All students completing a major in Health and Human Performance must take the University Senior Exit Exam and the HHP Senior Exit Exam during the last semester of study at the University.

Communication Sciences and Disorders Concentration - Professional Practice Competency of Integrity Outcome Desired or Expected: Students participatin in CSDI concentration courses will use the highest level of clinical integrity for clinical observations and during interactions with family members, caregivers, other service providers, studnets, and other consumers of speech-language pathology or audioology service.
- Foundation Knowledge in Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology: Etiology and Characteristics Outcome Desired or Expected: CSDI students will demonstrate knowledge of the nature of hearing disorders, including tier etiologies, characteristics and anatomical/physiological basis.
- Professional Practice Competency Communication Outcome Desired or Expected: CSDI students will use effective expressive communication forms (written, spoken, and nonverbal) with individuals served in interactions to ensure the highest quality of care is delivered in a culturally competent manner.
- Professional Practice Competency: CSDI students will evaluate infomration sources that apply to appropriate populations.
- Normal Speech Development Outcome Desired or Expected: CSDI students will demonstrate knowledge of basic human communication including the development and cultural basis of receptive and expressive language.
- Normal Speech Development Outcome Desired or Expected: CSDI students will demonstrate knowledge of basic human communication including the developmental and cultural basis of articulation.
