The Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) in Professional Services degree is designed to prepare students for service industry careers. The degree consists of a general education core, a common set of required degree specific (core) courses, and concentration specific required courses and electives. Additionally, the A.A.S. coursework provides a multiple pathways to a Bachelor’s Degree in order to help meet an individual student’s educational and career goals. Students work closely with their academic advisors in determining their curriculum requirements. The A.A.S. offers concentrations in Culinary Arts and Recreation Administration.

Culinary Arts Concentration

  • Students will explain fundamentals of nutrition as it applies to a culinary settings.
  • Students will demonstrate the fundamental skills and techniques necessary for entry level employment in a kitchen setting.
  • Students will demonstrate the ability to fabricate culinary products for entry level employment in a kitchen setting.
  • Students will summarize the foundations of sanitation and food safety.

     

Recreational Administration Concentration

  • Students will explain historical and philosophical underpinnings in regards to recreation and leisure.
  • Students will identify the value and benefit of recreation services within multiple settings.
  • Students will demonstrate approaches for recreational planning for diverse audiences.
  • Students will summarize foundations of program planning and across a multitude of delivery systems.
