Description of Major

The B.A. in Theatre Arts is a Liberal Arts Degree. Each concentration in the B.A. Theatre Arts degree program will consist of 36 hours in the major and is designed to be accompanied by a second major or minor. Admission to this program will be open to all. In addition to this degree, the Department of Theatre and Dance also offers a Theatre Minor and Dance Minor.

 

Admission Criteria:

Scholarships are only awarded to students who have been officially admitted by the university. BA students seeking departmental scholarships must audition. At the time of audition, students must submit the following: Resume, Head shot and Two letters of recommendation.   • Students will demonstrate the ability to critically analyze text and performance of theatre/dance.
  • Students will demonstrate knowledge of theatre/dance history and literature and draw connections between artistic practices and social contexts.
  • Students will analyze a wide range of theatre/dance repertory of various eras, genres, and cultural sources.
  • Students will demonstrate critical reflection of the firld of theatre/dance through research-based projects.
  • Students will apply techniques grounded in standard technical theatre practices.
  • Students will apply production skills in implementation of realized work.
