The Flight Instructor Certificate is an additional curriculum that supplements the Austin Peay State University B.S. in Aviation Science Program. The certificate is developed for students who have already earned their Commercial Pilot: Rotorcraft-Helicopter, Instrument Helicopter certificate. This program provides a logical, structured sequence that maximizes learning and meets 14 CFR part 141 training time requirements. This Flight Instructor Certificate also contains ground lessons appropriate to both the Certificated Flight Instructor and the Certificated Flight Instructor/Instrument Knowledge and Practical Tests with supplemental lessons for additional training as necessary.

On-Ground Program Student Learning Outcomes
- The flight instructor certificate allows students to demonstrate a proficiency in the knowledge of proper techniques of flight instruction, risk management, learners emotional reactions and defense mechanisms, and teaching adult learners.
- The flight instructor certificate allows students to apply the laws, domains, and characteristics of learning in an aviation environment.
- The flight instructor certificate allows students to develop the necessary skills and abilities to instruct aviation students at different levels of experience and abilities in a safe and professional manner.
