Accreditation
All programs in the Department of Art + Design are accredited by the National Association of Schools of Art and Design.
Admission Requirements
Admission to the B.F.A. and B.A. programs is by application (usually at the end of the sophomore year), provided the student has met the following requirements:
- Completion of: ART 1340, ART 1350, ART 1045, ART 1360
- Completion of a Foundations Portfolio Review in which the faculty will vote based on the quality of the student’s work. Should the faculty vote to defer entrance to the program, and the student wishes to reattempt the review, they may do so the following semester. Upon a second deferral, a student is denied entrance to the program.
Computer animation and cinematic digital imagery/effects are related and versatile skills for commercial artists. By covering topics such as hand-drawn animation, 3D computer animation, digital model building, digital painting, visual effects compositing, live-action green-screen filming, motion capture technology, and virtual reality systems, students will gain a generalist knowledge of the field. A critical and thoughtful exploration of these subjects is essential for students’ understanding and appreciation of this rapidly evolving form of art and media.
