Peace Studies Certificate

The Peace Studies Certificate provides a multidisciplinary approach to give students the conceptual and practical tools to understand social conflicts and work effectively for peace solutions. Students will draw on the methodologies of the social sciences and humanities to develop their abilities as researchers and learn strategies for reducing and resolving interpersonal, community, and global conflicts.

Program Student Learning Outcomes


  • Students will be able to identify causes of social conflict and methods of conflict resolution. 
  • Students will be able to integrate multiple disciplinary approaches, including Humanities and Social Sciences, in discussing conflict and conflict resolution.
  • Students will be able to distinguish theoretical, descriptive, and normative approaches to conflict and conflict resolution.
  • Students will be able to evaluate frameworks of conflict and conflict resolution with application to cases.
  • Students will be able to demonstrate conflict analysis and resolution skills by effectively carrying out a research project. 
  • Engage in critical thinking, intercultural deliberation, and communication necessary for social conflict resolution.
