Distance Education enables the University to reach beyond the traditional campus via online, two-way interactive video and off-campus on-site courses. Graduate online courses are offered each term with the number of offerings increasing each term. APSU also is a participant in the Tennessee Board of Regents Online Degree Program (RODP) and the Army online initiative.

Tennessee Board of Regents colleges, universities, and technology centers offer the Regents Online Degree Programs (RODP). APSU is one of six TBR universities that delivers and awards the noted master’s degrees. Courses completed in the Regents Online Degree Programs are entirely online and transferable among all the participating institutions. These degrees and courses will be offered in an interactive, asynchronous format. That means classes can be accessed any time of the day from anywhere via the internet. Advising, library services, student support, and other forms of student assistance also will be available online. Students have technical support 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
The Felix G. Woodward Library offers a print collection numbering 400,000 and an electronic collection that includes 9,000 full-text periodicals, 43,000 e-books, 4,700 audio visuals and 663,000 microforms. On-site and remote access to numerous Internet and other electronic resources and databases is readily available to students.

The APSU Book and Supply Store provides the books and materials needed as part of the educational process for students. Items available include textbooks (new and used and rental), school supplies, a wide variety of APSU gift items (sweatshirts, T-shirts, baseball caps, youth, fashion, and more), and graduation regalia. The Child Learning Center (CLC) is available to children of APSU students, staff and faculty, as well as the local community and serves preschool children aged 2 years through 5 years (5 year olds must not be enrolled in Kindergarten). School-age drop-in care is offered. The CLC also offers evening care (ages 2 - 12 years of age) for students enrolled for evening classes and attending on campus activities. APSU students pay discounted fees. Full-time and part-time programs are available. The CLC maintains a three-star rating from the Department of Human Services Star Quality Child Care Program. The CLC is also a Gold Sneaker Facility. The center hours of operation are day programs (Monday – Friday 7:30 am – 5:00 pm) and evening program (Monday – Thursday 4:30 – 9:30 pm)
Career Services is located in the Morgan University Center, Room 112. The center assists students in each stage of the career development process; services include career exploration, writing a resume and/or cover letter and enhancing interviewing skills. The Testing Center is located in the Ellington Building, Room 202. The center administers the Miller Analogies Test (MAT) and also proctors exams for courses taken through other universities. Registration information for the Graduate Record Exam (GRE), PRAXIS exams for teacher certification and licensing, and the Law School Admission Test (LSAT) is available at the center. The Office of Student Counseling Services is located in Ellington Building, Room 202. Services are provided to promote student learning through cultural, emotional, social, intellectual and spiritual development. Personal counseling sessions may be scheduled fora variety of issues which include adjustment to college, marriage preparation, depression, anxiety, relationship issues, stress management, low self-esteem, alcohol and drug abuse, grief and sexuality. The primary counseling staff is made up of licensed professionals. Services are confidential and provided to students at no additional cost. Students may call 931-221-6162 for an appointment.
The Govs Card is the official identification card for every student, faculty and staff member at APSU. It offers a convenient, easy and safe way to make purchases and utilize campus services. The card can also be used as a library card, meal plan card, meal money (Gov Bucks), admittance to athletic events and other campus activities, access to residence halls and the student recreation center, in vending machines, and as a US Bank ATM/Debit Card. The University provides health services guided by standards set by The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools and American College Health Association. The A.R. Boyd Health Services is an outpatient clinic on the campus, with either a Board Certified Family Practice Physician or Board Certified Family/Adult Nurse Practitioner on site. Services are provided for APSU students, staff, and faculty. Students are assessed a health service fee each semester enrolled. Staff and faculty seeking services through the clinic are required to pay a visit co-pay. Minor illnesses may be treated in the clinic without additional expense except for medications, certain procedures/exams, and laboratory tests. Major illnesses are referred to the patient’s family doctor or to the staff of consultants and specialists at Gateway Medical Center in Clarksville, an institution approved by the American Hospital Association. Medical care or related services obtained off campus is at the patient’s expense. Services available at Boyd Health Services include visits with medical staff for illness and/or injury, gynecology and family planning services, well-patient physical examinations, allergy injections, immunizations and tuberculin testing, laboratory and phlebotomy services, and health education.
No medical services will be provided until a medical history is completed, signed, and filed. In addition to this initial record, the University and Boyd Health Services reserves the right to require additional examinations and/or immunizations during any time the student is enrolled at the University.
Service may be denied to patients who are non-compliant with recommended treatment plan or for whose illness is outside the scope of clinic services.
Military Student Center

The Military Student Center (MSC) was established to provide support and assist military-related students in connecting with others who have similar interests. It serves veterans, active duty military, ROTC students and family members. There is a lounge area for fellowship and relaxation, computers and a printer for personal and academic use, and a study table for individual and group work.
The MSC assists veterans and military students with the transition to college by serving as a clearinghouse of information. With workshops and outreach events held throughout the year to better understand the sacrifices, gifts and challenges of the military culture, the staff within the MSC are always available to assist in resolving academic and personal issues for military-related students. The MSC is located in the Morgan University Center, Room 120, is open Monday-Friday 8:00 a.m. -4:30 p.m. and can be reached at: 931-221-1685.
The APSU Campus Police station is open and staffed 24 hours a day, and is located in the Shasteen Building. Officers patrol the campus by automobile, bicycle, and on foot. The cadre of police officers attends a state police academy and are otherwise certified and trained to state standards.
The jurisdictional area extends to all facilities owned, operated, and leased by the Board of Regents, as well as public roads and right-of-ways contiguous to that property. They are armed and empowered with the same arrest authority as city and county officers. Campus officers work closely with local and state police and emergency officials, and share a common radio network. Police officers are augmented on campus by security officers and by the Student Patrol, which assist in parking and traffic control and in security during special events, and provide a security escort service for students during evening hours. Other crime prevention programs run throughout the year, including crime prevention briefings and a program for recording and engraving serial numbers on valuable items of property. The Tennessee Board of Regents has contracted to provide, on a voluntary basis, sickness and accident insurance. The plan, including hospital and accident benefits, is available to full-time and part-time students and their family members at a reasonable cost. Students may obtain more information about this plan at Boyd Health Services in Ellington Student Services Building, at Student Affairs in the Morgan University Center, Room 206 or online at http://www.apsu.edu/healthservices/insurance. Students are strongly encouraged to have comprehensive health insurance during their time of enrollment at the University.

A person with a disability is someone with a physical or mental impairment that substantially limits one or more major life activities. A person is considered to be a person with a disability if he/she has the disability, has a record of the disability, or is regarded as having the disability.
Accommodations are academic adjustments or auxiliary aids that provide equal access to programs and services. A few examples are print and audio materials in alternate formats, extended time or taking an exam in a minimal distraction area, recording a lecture or having a note-taker and assistive technology to read and navigate a computer.
It is the responsibility of the student to register with the Office of Disability Services and request accommodations. The first step is to complete an Intake Form. Tuition Reduction
A Tennessee resident who is permanently and totally disabled may register in courses for credit on a space available basis and pay a maximum tuition of $70 and all applicable fees or may audit a course if space is available at no cost (according to Tennessee law) by filing an Application for Tuition Reduction due to Disability and submit proof that you are considered 100% disabled through Social Security or other appropriate state or federal agency. To request tuition reduction for disability, you must submit this documentation for each term of enrollment. Requests must be submitted prior to the last day of registration. Parking
Disabled parking decals are issued to qualified students/faculty/staff in lieu of any other decal. Decals are obtained from public safety/campus police upon the presentation of a license or placard issued by any state specifically to the person requesting the decal. Decals may be obtained by visiting public safety/campus police at the Shasteen Building, 133. Temporary disabled permits are issued under the authority of the director of Health Services and entitle the bearer to the same parking privileges for short periods of time. Temporary disabled permits may be obtained by visiting Boyd Health Services, Ellington 104.
Committee for Persons with Disabilities
The committee has the responsibility for developing policies related to the services and activities for people with disabilities on campus. In addition, the committee should monitor questions relative to procedures and access, and make recommendations directly to the president concerning these matters.

Students who desire to park and/or drive vehicles on the APSU campus are required to register with the Office of Public Safety in the Shasteen Building. All vehicles must display a proper parking decal and must be operated in accordance with state laws and University Traffic and Parking Regulations, distributed by the Office of Public Safety.
The Morgan University Center is the center of campus life at Austin Peay. The Center is the home to the University’s food service operations, featuring the cafeteria and food court. In addition, the following offices are located in the facility: Student Affairs, University Facilities, Student Life and Engagement, Advisement Center for Undeclared Students, Disability Services, Career Services, Student Transitions, Student Publications (The All State student newspaper and the Monacle Yearbook), Student Government Association, Hispanic Cultural Center, Adult and Non-Traditional Students Center and the Military Student Center. Besides the offices listed, the Morgan University Center includes a coffee shop, post office and meeting rooms. In the Morgan University Center you will find regular events and programs scheduled throughout the day, as well as a location to relax and refresh from your academic studies.

The University believes that life in campus housing provides students with an essential part of the educational experience. Living in a residence hall/apartment affords students opportunities for involvement in learning communities, campus activities, shared responsibilities and community experiences.
The University has accommodations for approximately 1,900 students. Single students are housed in residence halls, generally two to a room, or Meacham Apartments and Hand Village, four to an apartment, under the supervision of professional and student staff. One-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments are available for married students, single parents with dependent children, or single students age 21 or older with no dependents.
All resident students must provide their own bed linens, towels, telephones and other personal accessories. Students are responsible for the care and cleaning of their rooms. Laundry facilities are available in all residence halls/apartments. Internet, cable, in-house movie/information channel, and local telephone service are provided. All residences are smoke free.
Application for University Housing should be made online at www.apsu.edu/housing. Housing contracts are for the full academic year (fall and spring semesters including winter break) and renewed annually. Please refer to Housing Licensing Agreement for fee adjustment policies and deadlines. |
