The Felix G. Woodward Library offers a print collection of more than 340,000 volumes, 669,000 microforms, and an electronic collection that includes 300 online databases, more than 67,000 full-text periodicals, 460,000 e-books, and 7,500 audiovisual items. Online resources may be accessed via 108 computers located in the library’s information commons and 25 laptops available for checkout and use within the library. Online resources are available 24/7 from off-campus for APSU faculty, staff, and currently enrolled students.

The APSU Book and Supply Store provides the books and materials needed as part of the educational process for students. Items available include textbooks (new and used), supplies such as notebooks and folders, APSU gift items (sweatshirts, T-shirts, baseball caps, class rings and various APSU logo items), and graduation regalia. At the APSU Little Govs Child Learning Center, we believe that a child’s work is play. Our role is to provide children with opportunities to play and grow as individuals. We serve children ages two to four years, and with an excellent teacher to child ratio, families can trust that their children receive the individualized attention they need during this developmental stage.
The Little Govs Child Learning Center serves children of APSU students, alumni, faculty and staff, as well as children in the community. The center is licensed by the Department of Human Services (DHS) and has earned the highest rating of three stars.
We offer competitive tuition rates for children, with discounts given to siblings. We offer childcare for your schedule, with multiple plans: Monday/Wednesday/Friday, Tuesday/Thursday and Monday through Friday. Fall and spring registration is also available.

Community Engagement & Sustainability supports and encourages collaboration between APSU and surrounding communities through direct assistance, environmental education and educational programming. We provide the space and opportunity for students to develop compassion and initiate change as active citizens in their communities. We focus on supporting students’ basic needs through the food pantry, supplemental meal support and emergency funding assistance.
Our call to action incorporates:
- Educating students about community issues and facilitating action
- Connecting students to global environmental challenges and encouraging resource conservation

On-Campus Resources:
- SOS Food Pantry: Supports Austin Peay students in need by helping fight hunger. The campus community supports and supplies the food pantry through donations. Students who find themselves in need can visit 322 Home Ave. during operating hours.
- Meal Swipe Program: In partnership with Sodexo dining services, APSU provides supplemental meal swipes to students needing an extra meal. Meal swipes are loaded onto Gov ID cards and may be used in the Food Hall. Students may apply online.
- Emergency Funds: Students, faculty or staff facing unexpected financial hardship (due to non-routine auto expenses, medical expenses, childcare expenses, disability expenses and computer problems) may apply for support funding through the SOS Food Pantry.

The Testing Center offers a variety of assessments which include Accuplacer, ACT-Residual, CLEP, DANTES and MAT; information about the National ACT is also available. Student Counseling Services

Student Counseling Services offers a variety of direct care services to students at Austin Peay State University, including individual counseling, drop-in counseling and group support. All direct care services are provided by licensed counselors and/or counseling interns working under professional supervision.
The office provides a safe, supportive space where students can work with trained therapists to better understand themselves, tackle life’s challenges and improve overall well-being.

There is no charge for currently enrolled students. Our counselors follow a short-term model focused on developing achievable goals. They support students managing stress, developing coping skills and maintaining healthy relationships.
Information shared in counseling sessions is confidential. However, counselors are required to report situations in which a student presents a risk of harm to themselves or others.

Boyd Health Services (BHS) delivers high quality holistic health care that is accessible, affordable and emphasizes and promotes healthy lifestyles and behaviors that lead to lifelong wellness. APSU students who are currently registered for classes as well as currently employed APSU staff and faculty are eligible for services. Our staff includes nurse practitioners, physicians, medical assistants, a pharmacist, a health and wellness promotion coordinator and an administrative assistant. The board-certified physicians and nurse practitioners provide evidence-based health care to our patients.
We offer primary and preventive care, acute illness and injury care, family planning/contraception visits, STD screening and treatment, limited management of chronic conditions, treatment of mental illnesses, employment/sports/school physicals, medication refills, immunizations, laboratory testing, allergy injections and health education programs. Some illnesses or conditions fall outside our scope of service and occasionally we must refer patients into the community for care. In these instances, the patient is responsible for any expenses incurred. There is no charge for most student visits in the clinic. Students are assessed a health service fee each semester with tuition that covers these office visits; however, there are additional charges for physicals, medications, supplies, procedures and laboratory tests received in-house and these are billed directly to the patient’s account. Staff and faculty seeking services will pay a small access fee which is also billed directly to their account. These charges can be paid through OneStop or at the Cashiers’ Window.
No medical services will be provided until a medical history is completed, signed and filed. In addition to this initial record, Boyd Health Services reserves the right to require additional examinations and/or immunizations during any time the student is enrolled at the University.

Accommodations are academic adjustments or auxiliary aids that provide equal access to programs and services. A few examples are print and audio materials in alternate formats, extended time or taking an exam in a minimal distraction area, recording a lecture or having a note-taker and assistive technology to read and navigate a computer.

Tuition Reduction
A Tennessee resident who is permanently and totally disabled may register in courses for credit on a space available basis and pay a maximum tuition of $70 and all applicable fees or may audit a course if space is available at no cost (according to Tennessee law) by filing an Application for Tuition Reduction due to Student Disability Resource Center and submit proof that you are considered 100% disabled through Social Security or other appropriate state or federal agency. To request tuition reduction for disability, you must submit this documentation for each term of enrollment. Requests must be submitted prior to the last day of registration. The Govs Card is your lifeline to campus life. This card serves as your official campus identification and is used to access residence halls, the library and athletic events; print and make copies; purchase food and beverages from vending machines; and pay for meals and snacks using your meal plan.
New students are issued a Mobile Govs Card for official identification at Austin Peay State University. Physical Govs Cards may be issued under certain circumstances.

The Austin Peay State University William E. & Sadako S. Newton Military Family Resource Center – the state’s largest military-affiliated student center – is open year-round. The 5,200 square-foot building at 426 College St., next to Johnny’s Big Burger, provides the University’s military-affiliated students – MAS (active-duty military, veterans, reservists, National Guard members, ROTC cadets, retirees, and military families) with a one-stop shop for most of their social, financial, and academic needs. The facility houses the Military & Veterans Affairs division senior leadership, a VetSuccess on Campus Counselor, a VetSuccess on Campus Counselor, a Military-Affiliated Career Specialist, a Military-Affiliated Student Success Professional, and a Veterans Upward Bound Academic Coordinator.
The Newton Military Family Resource Center (NMFRC) offers programs throughout the academic year to address the unique challenges our Military-Affiliated Student (MAS) population faces. NMFRC features:
- A computer lab with online access, a printer, and CAC readers
- A dining area to eat, study, or talk with your peers
- A lounge to unwind and relax
- Events include educational, informational, and family-oriented programming throughout the year
- Programs throughout the academic year that address the unique challenges facing our student population
- Student-Peer Coaching – staff provides guidance and advice on how to navigate college and transition from military to college life and beyond
- Tech for MAS loan program – graphic calculators (TI-84 Plus) are available to APSU Military Affiliated Students – MAS only free of charge on a first-come, first serve basis for the semester.
- Texts for Vets loan program – relies on student textbook donations to loan textbooks for fellow APSU students, free of charge on a first-come, first serve basis for the semester.
- Tutoring one-to-one through the Center for Academic Support and Enrichment (CASE), which provides services for a variety of undergraduate courses.

The APSU Campus Police Department is open and staffed 24 hours a day, and is located in the Shasteen Building. Officers patrol the campus by automobile, bicycle, and on foot. The cadre of police officers attends a state police academy and are otherwise certified and trained to state standards.
The jurisdictional area extends to all facilities owned, operated, and leased by the University, as well as public roads and right-of-ways contiguous to that property. They are armed and empowered with the same arrest authority as city and county officers. Campus officers work closely with local and state police and emergency officials, and share a common radio network. Police officers are augmented on campus by security officers and by the Student Patrol, which assist in parking and traffic control and in security during special events, and provide a security escort service for students during evening hours. Other crime prevention programs run throughout the year, including crime prevention briefings and a program for recording and engraving serial numbers on valuable items of property. Public Safety is also responsible for coordinating homeland security efforts and APSU’s Emergency Preparedness Plan. For more information, contact Campus Police at 931-221-7786. Students who desire to park and/or drive vehicles on the APSU campus are required to register with the APSU Parking and Transportation Office in the Shasteen Building. All vehicles must display a proper parking decal and must be operated in accordance with state laws and University Traffic and Parking Regulations, distributed by the APSU Parking and Transportation Office.
The Morgan University Center (MUC) is Austin Peay State University’s central hub for student life, dining, meetings and events. We are committed to providing an environment that fosters learning, community, engagement and personal growth through programs and services.
The MUC is home to many dining options, including Chick-fil-A, Pei Wei Asian Kitchen, Subway, Einstein Bros. Bagels and The Market @ MUC.

With 11 residence halls to choose from, living on campus is a great way to get involved in campus life and experience Austin Peay. Students can easily walk to class, campus dining venues and even explore downtown Clarksville.
Freshmen under 21 years of age who do not live at home with family members are required to live in university housing and purchase a meal plan.
APSU offers seven enclosed-style residence halls, five of which are reserved for new freshmen, one outside corridor-style hall; two suite-style facilities; and two apartment-style facilities reserved for upperclassmen. Resident students are responsible for the care and cleaning of their rooms. On- campus living offers close proximity to campus activities, free laundry access, free internet and free Peay Pickup services. Students who live on campus even tend to make better grades.
New students may apply for housing online through OneStop under the Housing Portal tile. Housing contracts cover the full academic year (fall and spring semesters, including winter break) and are renewed annually. Please refer to the Housing Licensing Agreement for fee adjustment policies and deadlines.

The Writing Center provides assistance with writing skills to any student at APSU. They support assignments in APA, ASA, Chicago, and MLA style. Students may receive assistance on either an appointment, walk-in, or online basis. The Writing Center is located on the main floor of the library.
