EDUC 7016 - Multicultural Leadership

Description: Leaders are situated within powerful cultural contexts defined, individually and collectively, by students’ race, ethnicity, culture, socioeconomic status, gender, religion, sexual orientation, disability, immigration, linguistic diversity, and national origin. Rapid demographic shifts and the current educational trajectory of students from marginalized groups necessitate that educational leaders identify and implement strategies and interventions for facilitating transformative multicultural approaches. Although it is not possible to cover all diversity topics, this course is designed to (1) serve as a reflecting mirror for students to examine their knowledge of and sensitivity to diversity issues and (2) reflect the broadest understanding of what it means to work and lead in the cultural plurality and intersectionality of our environment.
