30-36 semester hours  –  Students may choose from one of the two concentrations listed below:

Admission:

In order for an application to be complete, the applicant must submit the following:

  • Application for Admission
  • $25 application fee
  • Official transcripts from all colleges attended
  • Resume listing three references
  • Official scores on the General Test of the Graduate Records Examination (GRE)
  • Personal essay (one page maximum) addressing
    • The applicant’s career goals
    • Why the applicant wishes to pursue the PSM at Austin Peay
    • The applicant’s quantitative/analytical background in terms of prior coursework, research, and/or employment.

Admissions decisions will be based largely on coursework and performance in all previous degree programs, GRE general test scores, and the personal essay.  Because it is expected that students from diverse academic backgrounds will apply to the program, no specific list of prerequisite courses are specified.  However, the academic transcript, GRE scores, and/or work experience of successful applicants must include evidence of aptitude, knowledge, and skill in algebra, quantitative literacy, and foundations of computer programming.  Some background in either statistics or calculus is desirable and will strengthen an application, as well as additional experience in computer programming.

Conditional Admission Status may be granted to applicants who have met all entrance requirements prescribed by the College of Graduate Studies, the department and the program to which they apply.  Under conditional status, unofficial transcripts and entrance exams may be submitted until the official documents are received in the Graduate Admissions Office.  It is the applicant’s responsibility to understand the specific admission requirements and submit official transcripts and entrance exams by the 10th day of classes (for 8-week sessions, the 6th day of class is the deadline for submitting official documents) for the first registered semester in which the student has applied.  After all official documents are received, the applicant will be granted regular admission status.  Applicants who do not submit all official documents in the prescribed time period above will be dropped from all classes in which they are enrolled.  If, within the department, an appeal process seems warranted, the departmental chair will submit an appeal letter to the Dean, College of Graduate Studies.

Admission to Candidacy/Program of Study/Committee Assignment Form:  Students admitted to a degree-seeking program must complete the Admission to Candidacy/Program of Study/Committee Assignment form by the end of the first semester (excluding summer terms), regardless of the number of hours in which the student has enrolled.
