Music Therapy Concentration

Admission Criteria

To be admitted into the music department, all students must pass a music performance audition in a primary performance area. In addition, students pursuing the Music Therapy Concentration must pass an application process that will begin in the sophomore year as a course requirement of the Introduction to Music Therapy course. The application process will consist of: 1) minimum ACT of 22; 2) Minimum GPA of 2.5 with a C or higher in all MUS classes; 3) Application Essay with a grade of B or higher. Per accreditation standards of the American Music Therapy Association (AMTA), students in this concentration will undergo a series of ‘milestones’ similar to the College of Education to ensure ongoing eligibility to continue in the program, and that AMTA competencies have been fulfilled.
