Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Concentration

The Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) concentration prepares graduates to provide advanced, evidence-based mental health care for individuals and families across the lifespan. Students develop the knowledge and clinical judgment needed to independently assess, diagnose, prescribe, and evaluate treatment for complex mental health needs. The curriculum emphasizes safe, compassionate, and personalized care that integrates current evidence, clinical guidelines, and healthcare technologies. Graduates are also prepared to promote mental health, reduce the risk for psychiatric disorders, and support recovery through education, screening, and targeted interventions.

Designed with the working professional nurse in mind, the program is delivered primarily online, with two required on-campus immersions to strengthen hands-on skills, engage in simulation, and foster professional networking. Graduates are eligible to sit for the national PMHNP certification exam and apply for licensure as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN).
