GEOL 3601 - Petrology Lab Credit Hours 1
Prerequisite: GEOL 3500 /3501 at APSU or approval of transfer credit by mineralogy instructor;
Corequisite: GEOL 3600 ;
Description: Students in lab component learn hand sample and microscope techniques for describing and classifying rocks. Rock texture, mineralogy, and chemistry is used to interpret conditions of formation in natural geologic environments, with an emphasis on igneous and metamorphic rocks. A weekend overnight field trip is required.
