Return to: College of Arts and Letters
This program satisfies Tennessee guidelines for secondary school licensure.
Students seeking licensure, 7-12 for teaching in Tennessee, must also complete the Professional Education Minor, LING 4400, and one study abroad course from SPAN 304A (6-8) or SPAN 304B (6-8) for Spanish licensure or present evidence of an acceptable intensive experience abroad in the target language. In case SPAN 304A or SPAN 304B is completed it can substitute for two equivalent Spanish courses. Therefore, the Study Abroad Requirement does not add credit hours to the total hours required by the major. Students must also do Student Teaching and pass the PRAXIS II Spanish specialty exam (code 191, minimum score of 152; and code 192, minimum score of 154). Transfer students must earn at least six (6) hours in Spanish at APSU.
