Students will acquire a knowledge base that includes advanced French language, spoken by approximately 250 million French speakers, and knowledge of the cultures of the 29 Francophone countries in the world. The minor in French is intended to prepare non-majors for life and work in a global and multilingual society. The minor will serve the needs of students who would like to prepare for careers in international business, communication, or government service in French-speaking parts of the world. The minor will give students the opportunity to build their oral and written proficiency skills and content knowledge in French. In addition, some students might choose to study on an APSU study abroad program in Quebec, France or West Africa, or a semester-long exchange program in France or in Quebec, providing them with real-world opportunities to speak French and explore the French-speaking cultures of the world.
