Dance Concentration B.F.A.


Entrance into the BFA Theatre/Dance program and scholarship consideration is by way of a successful audition and/or portfolio review and interview. At the time of audition, Acting, Dance, and Musical Theatre students must submit: Resume Head shot Two letters of recommendation Up to date transcripts that indicate cumulative GPA of high school and/or previous college work.  At the time of audition, Design students must submit the following: Resume, Design/Tech Portfolio Personal Photo Two letters of recommendation Up to date transcripts that indicate cumulative GPA of high school and/or previous college work Scholarships are only awarded to students who have been officially admitted by the university. Students must maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA in the major and 2.5 overall GPA to continue in the program. If a student’s GPA falls below a 3.0 in the major, it will result in the student being placed on probation the following semester.  Probation may result in ineligibility for casting or other department production positions and will entail being ineligible for departmental sponsored travel.  If grades do not improve the student may be released from the program. Continuation in the program requires an Annual Review. Negative reviews may lead to probation or dismissal from the program. Most Theatre/Dance classes are restricted to BFA/BA majors and minors. Exceptions must be approved by the instructor of record or by the Chair of Theatre/Dance. Production Audition Requirements: All BFA Acting students must audition for every main stage play or musical. All BFA Musical Theatre students must audition for every main stage play, musical or dance concert. All BFA Dance students must audition for every main stage musical or dance concert. All BFA Design students are encouraged to audition for main stage productions. (You will often be assigned to a production.) All BFA students must accept roles as cast or assigned! (Any exception to this must be approved by the Chair of the Department.)  Failure to fulfill these audition requirements will result in being placed on probation and may lead to dismissal from the program.  More information on departmental guidelines and policies can be found in the Department of Theatre and Dance Guidebook: www.apsu.edu/theatre-dance
