ASTR 1020 - Stellar Astronomy Credit Hours 3 Prerequisite: Deficiencies in reading, writing, and mathematics must be satisfied prior to taking this course. Corequisite: ASTR 1021 Description: Stellar astronomy covers the tools and methods of astronomy including locating and naming stars and constellations, light and other radiation, telescopes and spectroscopy as well as topics such as the Sun, star birth, star life, star death, pulsars, black holes, galaxies, quasars and cosmology. Basic mathematical concepts such as number operation, percentage, proportionality, ratio, and graphing are applied throughout the course.
